Episode 75: Coupberry

Howdy all,

In this episode, we drink a bunch of blueberries and talk about the decay of empire. You know, typical ‘cracking open a cold one’ conversations.

Omnipollo Bianca Blueberry Maple Pancake Lassi Gose (1): Omnipollo continues to punish us in Dissecting Our Fun as Spencer lays out his thoughts on the “engine truncation” problem.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project L’Brett d’ Blueberry Golden Sour Ale Aged in Oak Barrels with Washington Blueberries (5): In a temporary loss of reason, the listeners think we are physically fit enough to fight. In typical MX6 style, we make our violent outburst a musical instead in this Jukebox in Back.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company Luponic Distortion IPA Series (3): In This Was a Mistake, Caleb is done with centrist arguments from precedent, and you should be too.

Omnipollo Bianca Blueberry Maple Chocolate Peanut Butter Pancake Lassi Gose (1): I don’t know what we expected with this beer, but Ask Mixed Six repeats that mistake by allowing the podcast to pick an internet handle for one of the listeners.

Prairie Artisan Ales Millennial Mansion Imperial Sour Ale with Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Lime, Blueberry, Cherry, and Marshmallow Flavor (4): Using what is probably a repeat beer (sorry…pandemic), the Mixed Six Mock Draft staffs a coup with videogame characters. It’s just as effective.

New Belgium Voodoo Ranger IPA (2): Finally Drunk Enough to cope, we talk about what we’ve been doing to keep things level in a post ⅙ world.

Episode 74: 2020 Beer in Review

Happy New Year!Hell on Earth is here and now…but at least one year of it is about to be gone. We celebrate and commemorate things best left buried in our memories in this year’s MX6 Beer in Review!

(Note: Owing to existence in hellworld, it has been impossible to track down re-ups of our Top 6 number 5’s of the year, so we shall be reviewing all new beers to cap out the solar cycle…we are just THAT eager to get out of this year, we are already on to the next.)

Off Color Brewing Dino Smores–Imperial Marshmallow Stout (5): 2020 was all about taking one for the team, so Spencer tried an imperial s’mores stout. Speaking to jumping on grenades, this Dissecting Our Fun is about designing 2020, the board game.

Bellwoods Brewery Grandma’s Boy Wild Ale Blend w/ Niagara Shiro Plums (5): The Professional Drinkers give out the coveted Brewery of the Year award.

O’Fallon Wheach Peach Wheat Beer (1): In Armchair Director, we pick our favorite films of the year. Spoiler alert: they are ALL depressing.

Off Color Brewing Very, Very Far–Belgian Style Ale Mix Fermented with White Wine Yeast (2):  Resolutions, I guess?

Bellwoods Brewery’s Farmageddon Barrel Aged Wild Ale with Niagara Montmorency and Morello Cherries (4): The Binge Bingers have had time to binge and binge and binge and so they have chosen the three shows that shall be binged, forever and ever more, amen.

Tracks 1-7:

Episode 72: On The Birk Again

As Birk exits California like the last son of a dying planet, we check in with our brother from another podcast before his transmitter gets out of range. Please enjoy what is likely the final episode of this podcast before Spencer divorces Caleb over cryptid-gate.

Loveland Aleworks Blackberry Lemon Bar Sour (5): Producer Ross likes Among Us. In Dissecting Our Fun, we talk about why he is alone and wrong.

Tool Brewing Mr. Orange 2019 Edition (3): In Mixed Six Mock Draft, we’ve got to paper the shelves of the trash canon with self-help books by sidekicks.

Boulevard Brewing Nutcracker Winter Warmer Ale (3): Ben Asked Mixed Six about their favorite cryptids. That was really the beginning of the end.

Boulevard Brewing and Rhinegeist-Crust Fall Peach Berry Pie Sour (4): We Make a Pair pairs alcohol with Halloween candy to get ready for all the Trick or Treating you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE DOING.

Rockwell Beer Co. Stand By Hoppy Pilsner (4): Innervium has to sell the brain juice from Deep Blue Sea. If we can get three movies out of that franchise, we wring some profit from these shark brains.

Oskar Blues’ Mama’s Little Yella Pils (3): Finally Drunk Enough, we answer the ‘how to write’ question. Caleb’s answer is appreciated at levels commiserate with his other contributions.

Episode 71: Trees are Bullshit

Look at this gaudy bastard...Birk is back, and we’re finally brave enough to admit something: we’re tired of all those damn trees with their arboreal biomass above the ground! What are they trying to prove?! Show-offs….

Anyway, we talk about Gloomhaven, manners befitting a hootenanny, and Producer Daddy’s love of grasses.

Haand Bryggeriet Odins Tipple Imperial Stout (4): In Dissecting Our Fun, Caleb begs his hosts to talk him out of buying baby Gloomhaven, aka Jaws of the Lion. Perhaps this was the wrong audience to ask.

Spoetzl Brewery’s Shiner Weisse n Easy (4): In a return of a long-time fan favorite, we dive back in to Rise of the Manner Lords: the Ettiquetting. The Manner Lords solve the age old question: is it okay to volunteer for jug when forced to perform at a wedding hootenanny?

Delirium Noel from Huyghe Brewery (3): Ask Mixed Six wanted to know about our exit strategies for when all this stuff going on in America turns out A-OK-aroonie, yessireebob.

Prairie Artisan Ales Punch Sour Ale with Blackberry, Cherry, and Lime (2): In Living with Humans, we get our spouses pissed off at us for your entertainment.

Urban Chestnut’s Big Shark Lemon Radler (3): Finally Drunk Enough, we discuss the value of seemingly frivolous, but equally dedicated, acts of self-improvement.

Music, Tracks 1-7:

Ep. 70: Ukelele Herzegovinia

We’re back with a regular episode for your ears. In this feast for the…well, sense — just the one sense — we discuss Captains, share surprising media choices, and finally give a name to our previously most anonymous question-asker.

Side Project Brewing Reflections 8/28/2018 Wine Barrel Fermented Missouri Wild Ale (5): Our best listener Asks Mixed Six about how to deal with discontent with the people you depend on.
Hitachino Nest Beer Lacto Sweet Stout (3): As the lawn/garage distanced hangout is the only social interaction a responsible drunk can hope for nowadays, Professional Drinkers recommend some beers you can hold in your hand while screaming at your friends over pathologically safe distances.
Left Hand Brewing Nitro Milk Stout (2):  Finally Drunk Enough to try again, we talk about what we would have done differently in the show if provided a time machine.

Yeah! We did it! It’s the acrostic numeric double entendre! The kids love that stuff.

Deschutes Handup IPA (2): In Dissection Our Fun, we’ve finally gotten around to letting Spencer try Feast of Odin. He is understandably obsessed.

Food month is almost over. Hold on. JUST HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER!
Also, Baz is here.

Sierra Nevada Hop Bullet Double IPA (3): In Armchair Director, we talk about the three blandest sequels we’ve ever seen.
Boulevard Brewing Cherry-Lime Radler (5): With a sociology major in the house, we have a Humanties Fight to talk about the goth subculture.
Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc (4): In Ask Mixed Six, four dudes were asked to talk about the guilt of playing a problematic game. I guess we’ll try?

John Boston Summer Ale (3): Finally Drunk Enough to engage with reality, we talk about the worst possible arguments for reopening businesses “after” Covid.

Episode 67: What’s in the Box?

Producer Ross’s father gave him a box, then receded to wherever it is he lurks when not summoned. What could be inside has consumed our every waking thought and sleeping nightmare since we heard of the dark curio’s existence. In this episode, like Pandora, we defy the gods by opening it to see what man was not meant to see.

We also talk about some other stuff, too, I guess.

Brasserie Thirtie3 Extra Dry-hopped French Farmhouse Ale (2): In Dissecting Our Fun, we talk about the second attempt to expand the rich-universe of Portuguese tile-laying games with Azul: Summer Pavilion.

Ciderboys Grand Mimosa Apple Orange Hard Cider (5): Alex asks the Professional Drinkers to lay down a roadmap to leading the uninitiated into the land of beer.

Brasserie D’Achouffe McChouffe Belgian Brown Beer (3):  Ask Mixed Six answers a question about the weirdness of parasocial podcast relationships.

Lagunitas Pils Czech Style Pilsener (4): Not to be outdone, the Sportsplainer takes on a journey of what e-sports can expect in the wake of quarantine.

The Citizen’s Brewery of Plzen’s Pilsner Urquell (1): Finally Drunk Enough, we try to explain the utter madness of US society to anyone not already drowning in it.

Episode 66: Quarantine Quarrels

Having already lost the battle of sound quality to the necessity of recording remotely, we thought we would make up the difference and then some by adding a Birk back into the cast. Join us for the most relatable rating system ever and tons of fun conversation.
Country Boy Brewing’s Nacho Bait Habanero Blonde Ale (4): In a time of shifting viewpoints, we talk about boardgames that have changed our perspective the most in Dissecting Our Fun.

[NOT A BEER] Gold Rush Cocktail (4):  Having run out of beers around the same time as the supply of fucks to give went dry, we’re Drunk Enough to hire a director for the inevitable Covid-19 movie.
P.S: Episode art is fan art done, yet again, by our friend David N.

Episode 65: Producer Ross’s Quest

Something too large
Something too dangerous
Something too cool
Something too plain
Return from the Far Side of the World
with a prize to prove yourself true
or Death by Malort is the fate
that will befall a Producer like you.
Maplewood Morbidly Obese Pug Extra Fudge Imperial Chocolate Stout (5): In Dissecting Our Fun, Caleb struggles to calm his hype beast as the boardgame industry continues to shovel cocaine up its nose.
New Belgium Brewing L’ Terrore Dry Hopped American Sour Ale (5): The Mixed Six Mock Draft has to assemble a Rescuers Down Under-esque crew to help them survive in the Australian wilderness.
Pipeworks Brewing Co. Pineapple Guppy Pale Ale with Pineapple (3): Max sent us the Three Floyds graphic novel. I guess it’s a Getting Lit(erature) segment? Should of never gave them boys money, that’s for sure.
Decadent Ales Decadent Creamery Blackberry Sorbet Gose Style Ale with Blackberry (2): That’s a lot of uses of the word “Decadent,” but Ask Mixed Six has a lot of questions in this FIRE SALE.
4 Noses Brewing Company Raspberry Blonde Ale with Raspberries (4): The Honorable Judge Producer Ross judges the worst decision ever made by a fictional character.
Pipeworks Brewing Co. Forest Fauna India Pale Ale with Centennial Hops, Simcoe Hops, and Spruce Tips (1): If the hosts have to record 80 episodes a week to make up for Producer Ross’s vacation, they’re Drunk Enough to demand an honest-to-god Arthurian Quest in tribute.
