Board games. Beer. Pop culture. And a little drunken philosophy.

Ep. 43: Welcome to Cheese Month

Look…sometimes you look back at your rating system and realize all the rating systems you’ve come up with in the last month have something to do with cheese. It happens to the best of us. Diets are hard, y’all. Best to point it out early and move on. Luckily, we also managed to talk through an episode between our desperate pleading for cheddar. We hope you enjoy it more than we enjoy the cheese-deficient hell  that is existence.

Evil Twin Brewing’s C is for Cherry: We Dissect the Fun of games with entirely asymmetrical, random win objectives. Is the novelty helping or hurting?

Left Hand Brewing Wheels Gose ‘Round: With an odd tie in the Twitter poll, our would-not-be writers have to develop a Slasher Sci-fi story in We’ll Never B’Author.

Sailors Grave Brewing’s Down She Gose: Sebastian Asks Mixed Six about the value of intentionally provocative art.

Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. Kentucky Honey Barrel Brown Ale: This Mixed Six Mock Draft staffs a block party with superheroes. It’s not like they have anything better to do. Community policing at its finest!

Prancing Pony Brewery’s Hopwork Orange American Pale Ale: Spencer finally watched the most base-level of anime suggestions: Studio Gibili films. His deeply normal brain is even more deeply confused. We try to Nerdsplain him out of his fugue state.

Country Boy Brewing’s Key Lime Cougar Bait: Finally Drunk Enough to do a Roger Ebert impression, we discuss the denominational crisis brought about by playing a backer-donated copy of Tales from the Arabian Nights. What does it mean to be a game?

Music: Tracks 2-8 of Return of the Soul

Ep. 42: Another Bacon Beer on the Barbie

Our friend Maddy flew around the world to visit us for a recording! Considering one of the beers she brought, her continued presence on the show is…questionable. It makes for a fun listen though, even if Spencer’s tongue never recovers.

Barossa Valley Brewing’s I Can’t Believe it’s Not Bacon: In Dissecting Our Fun, we try to talk about the kid’s dexterity game Rhino Hero, but we mainly discuss the awful thing that has been wrought upon Spencer by a foreign invader. Is this how wars start? Asking for a friend.

Little Bang Brewing Co. Breakfast At Stepney Coffee Oatmeal Stout: Travel Advisory returns with a prescient question over what people miss most during international travel. The beer gets better too, but how could it not?

Lobethal Bierhaus Creme Brûlée Sweet Dessert Ale: Ask Mixed Six is having another Fire Sale. Rapid fire questions go!

Little Bang Brewing Co. The Pinkening Hibiscus Session Sour: This Was a Mistake is travel focused as well because there are few mistakes as absurd, expensive, and long-lasting as the TSA.

Pikes Beer Company 2015 Cherry Kriek: In this Mixed Six Mock Draft, H.G. Wells has used his time machine to form a tabletop game company. What other novelists does he recruit to design games with him, and what type of games do they design?

Goodies Brewery (McLaren Vale) Coffee Stout: Finally Drunk Enough, a bunch of freelancers ask themselves how much they are willing to pay to avoid a boring job.

Ep. 41: Hibiscus Seems Like an Elf Flavor

We’re finally back to recording after a long June of convention travel. We also have a guest this episode! Long-time collaborator Maddy flew in from Australia to hang with us. She’s a bit too jet-lagged to say much this episode, but she’ll be back with more to say in the future once she’s acclimated to our harsh Missouri climate.

Elevator Brewing Company Bleeding Buckeye Red Ale: The MX6 Game Jam is back as we try to turn an actual sport into a tabletop board game as absurdly as possible.

Mt Carmel Brewing Company Hibiscus Blueberry Blonde: In We Make a Pair, we link fantasy races to the real-world beers they would obviously love.

Great Lakes Brewing Co. Eliot Ness Amber Lager: Humanities Fight discusses the possibility of philosophical change through the lens of lightbulb jokes. This one got a little weird…

Maumee Bay Brewing Co Total Eclipse Breakfast Stout: The fans Ask Mixed Six about the ethics of “ghosting.”

Thirsty Dog Brewing Company Old Leghumper Robust Porter: The crew is suffering some blockbuster fatigue, and this Armchair Director interrogates where that comes from.

The Brew Kettle Production Works Kitka Coconut Chocolate Milk Stout: In the world of the side-gig and stay-cation, is vacation time just forcing yourself to be bored, or should you start yet another project? We pose the question once Drunk Enough.

Ep. 40: The Scooby Snacks are Heroin

I already named an episode based off a bad hot dog pun…then Spencer did this rating system. Frankly, I’m at a loss. I’ve just been totally sabotaged. Let’s get this over with. The episode is pretty okay, I guess.

Blue Mountain Barrel House Series Dark Hollow: Imperial Stout Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels: In Dissecting Our Fun, we’ve played Mountains of Madness and enjoyed it. We debate whether it’s really a Lovecraftian game at all, or if perhaps it is the best Lovecraftian board game.

Smartmouth Brewing Company Chaotic Neutral IPA: Armchair Director makes a case for movies destroyed by a single casting choice.

Kindred Spirit Brewing Strawberry Milkshake Ale: Ale brewed with fruit and lactose: In Sportsplainer, Spencer gives us nerds some talking points so we can camouflage ourselves in the endless Lebron James v. Michael Jordan debate.

Virginia Beer Co Wrenish Rye: In the tradition of The Toys That Made Us, James Burns Asks Mixed Six about the toys that made them.

Alewerks Brewing Company Paycheck Porter Robust American Porter with Rich Character: The Mixed Six Mock Draft has to cast a new version of Scooby-Doo using only rock musicians.

Evolution Craft Brewing’s Pine’hop’le Pineapple India Pale Ale: Where is your line for sharing? How do we draw it? Drunk Enough tries to examine the border before tripping over it.

Ep 39: Meerkat Smuggling

Please don’t forget to back Party Fowl: The Game of Drunk Ducks. It’s the boardgame that Mixed Six has been designing as far back as episode 11!

We’re back at it again with the high-octane, summer blockbuster of a podcast that you’ve all come to know and love. Prepare for all the thrills, chills, and spills your ears can handle.

Tallgrass Brewing Co.’s 8-Bit Pale Ale: In Dissecting Our Fun, we talk about our love for Flamme Rouge and the problem of the “closet” expansion.

Scuttlebutt Brewing Co. Homeport Blonde Ale: It’s a Mixed Six FUSION. We combine We Make a Pair and Sportsplainer into “Sportsplain a Pair.” One host provides the sport; the other provides a drink to accompany it.

Upland Brewing Co.’s Dragonfly IPA: As if the podcast doesn’t get enough of this, Ask Mixed Six want to know about our top 3 pieces of media we can’t enjoy due to pet peeves.

Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA: In a return to our new writing segment, We’ll Never B’Author, the hosts overcome their profound biological, geographical, and historical ignorance to write the greatest period kung-fu film you’ll never see.

Abita Turbodog: In Armchair Director, we discuss the relatively new phenomenon of the aspirational streaming service.

Bell’s Brewing Expedition Stout: Finally Drunk Enough, Spencer and Caleb muse about a single piece of media they couldn’t have lived without.

Ep. 38: Tamagatchi Morality Play

We’re back with a new episode! We talk about toys, cosplay, birthday songs, and a number of other very adult topics. Thanks for tuning in.

Founders Brewing KBS: In Dissecting Our Fun, we throw the concept of the gaming tournament on the slab and see what makes it tick.

Destihl Brewery’s Moonjumper: Because absolutely no one asked for it, Caleb uses an obscure Russian literary theorist to explain modern cosplay in Nerdsplainer.

Victory Sour Monkey: With his birthday going on concurrent to the release of this episode, Jukebox in Back is about songs we want to hear at specific points in the celebration.

Avery Brewing The Beast Grand Cru Ale:  Ask Mixed Six is about the moral weight of simulations…and also Westworld.

Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale: As it seems to be the trend of the time, Armchair Director is about the side characters you want to see promoted to their own film.

The Brooklyn Brewery Brooklyn Defender IPA: In Drunk Enough, we try to talk about self-care, but Caleb misunderstands the term on pretty much every level.

Ep. 37: The Cider Irony

You’ve been asking for it, so we finally bring you the all-cider episode! Fearing the ABV of such beverages would fail to provide our podcast engine the accustomed amount of lubrication, we did some preventative maintenance (read: pre-drinking) before the episode started. This led to what is likely the drunkest episode in MX6 history for one of our esteemed hosts. BUT WHO? Listen and find out.

Apple Knocker Hard Cider Coffee Bourbon Bourbon-Barrel Aged Hard Cider: In Dissecting Our Fun, Alex gets us worried about groups that ruin playing games with anyone else. We debate whether this game group monogomy is something to fret about.

Gumption Hard Cider Citrus Freak: This Was a Mistake talks about the mistake of resurrecting dead sitcoms about the same time we realize all those whiskey shots were alsoprobably a mistake.

J.K.’s Northern Neighbor Farmhouse Cider: In Ask Mixed Six, we responds to John’s question about what DnD classes we would be. Producer Ross will say the word ‘assassin’ many, manytimes. We apologize.

Moonlight Meadery How Do You Like Them Apples Honey Apple Wine: In a new segment we’re calling We’ll Never B’Author, Spencer and Caleb plot out a book they will never write using random elements picked by Producer Ross. In what also might be a new MX6 tradition, we vehemently disagree about the success of the segment.

Ciderboys Strawberry Magic Apple Strawberry Hard Cider: The Armchair Directors pick three cinematic universes they would like to immigrate to.

St. James Winery McIntyre Cider Blackberry Hard Apple Cider: Long ago Drunk Enough, we finally put this farce to bed by trying to wrap our heads around ideas that the human mind might not be able to grasp.

Ep. 36: The Dangers of Couples Podcasting

Hey-ooo! It’s time for the Mixed Six again. This week, Sara and Brandy join the show to see what all the fuss is about. It’s twice the show with twice the hosts. If you like it, let us know in the comments so we can convince them to come back (hopefully within in a timetable faster than the year and a half it actually took to get them on the mics).

Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Synchopathic: In Dissecting Our Fun, we try to adapt some movies into board game mechanics.

Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Flanders Red: As the whole table was pretty obsessed with the new season of Queer Eye, Binge Binger is about our top three favorite makeovers from the remake.

Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Blueberry Gose: Getting Lit(erature) is about the books that got us all involved in this nerdy reading activity in the first place.

Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Here Gose Nothin: Ask Mixed Six wants to know which apocalypse or conspiracy theory we feel most capable of surviving.

Destihl Brewery Wild Sour Series Synchopathic Apricot: The listeners are feeling very bleak this week. The Mixed Six Mock Draft is about drafting a team of fictional educators to die in a zombie apocalypse.

Destihl Brewery Amra Mango IPA: Finally Drunk Enough, we get real about the dangers lurking within the couples’ game night.

Ep. 35: DeVostitutes

Our friend Baz is in town this week for an episode as jam-packed with content as Producer Ross’s table was packed with portly men. We got mock drafts, pairings, rapid fire question answering, and tasty beverages galore. Join us!

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales Bamarillo: Get all your boxes in a row with this Dissecting Our Fun about spatial mechanics in board games.

Charleville Vineyard Brewing Flanders Red: In this Mixed Six Mock Draft, we create three, competition-ready roller derby teams out of living political figures.

2nd Shift Brewing’s Technical Ecstasy: Is teaching English the same as teaching Rhetoric? Find out in this episode’s COM Corner.

Uinta Brewing Co Lime Pilsner: In We Make a Pair, we select the finest alcoholic beverage choice to wash down your preferred brand of philosophy.

Stillwater Artisanal’s Insetto: It’s time for a fire sale! All questions must go in this edition of Ask Mixed Six.

Cathedral Square Brewery’s Gabriel Double India Pale Ale: Spencer’s Drunk Enough to drop some musings about agency on his co-hosts.

Ep 34: Stillwater Did It!

Producer Ross has returned! People sent us stuff! We didn’t get poisoned! Really, there’s just so much to be grateful for in this episode, it’s impossible to write it all down. You’ll have to listen to the episode to get it all.

Founder’s Lizard of Koz: Imperial Stout Brewed with Blueberries, Chocolate, and Vanilla aged in Bourbon Barrels: In Dissecting Our Fun, we interrogate the perplexing cultural phenomenon that is BoardGame Geek.

Daytrotter Pale Horse Pale Ale: Nerdsplainer is about the terrifying gasification of everything in society. Caleb makes a desperate plea to his brothers and sisters to make it stop.

Stillwater Artisanal Shoegaze Distorted Farmhouse Pale Ale: The Armchair Directors talk about their favorite three opening scenes.

Prairie Artisan Ales Twist: Sean Asks Mixed Six how to tell the difference between good arthouse and pretentious nonsense.

Firestone Velvet Merkin Oatmeal Stout: In a new segment called We Make a Pair, we recommend beers to go with things that don’t typically have an alcoholic accompaniment. In this inaugural version, we pair beers with Kurt Russell films.

Omnipollo and Evil Twin Brewing’s Pink Lemonade IPA: Finally Drunk Enough, Adam L. really tries to drive a rift between us by asking how it is to work with friends on a creative endeavor.
